Of course Destiny condemns the murder!
The strange Piers Morgan episode Tuesday night.
What’s so painful about this segment is that Destiny is taking a brave and moral stand and is made to look unhinged and callous, and the others, who unanimously pounce on him, are fiercely dishonest and/or muddled, and yet made to look sane, normal and squarely in the right.
Most people watching this in America won’t spot this for what it is, in my opinion.
I should say THANKS to Destiny for what he’s trying to do here. The one line he said near the end captured the crux of his stance. “If Trump can’t, then we shouldn’t, until he does.”
It’s a really subtle point. So I’ll say what Destiny couldn’t: Obviously he condemns the murder of Charlie Kirk. We all do. Obviously. Obviously. Obviously. A million times yes. We condemn. It’s a horrible tragedy. Full stop.
Probably more than anyone up there, Destiny condemns it. If you want to know which side abhors this sort of violence just look at Twitter. Every major left of center politician and celebrity and influencer condemns the murder of Charlie Kirk. Nearly every leader right of center is calling for revenge and blaming the left as a radical monolith.
The irony is that because Destiny is, in some twisted way, loved in the way Kirk was loved, he likely knows more than anyone what this horrible murder represents. Of course he’s sickened by it.
But he’s making a clear point: A brave one. Perhaps a ridiculously important one: exactly how long can the left of center (and I don’t mean queers for Hamas) always be expected to reveal our humanity when the President himself won’t?
Destiny’s calculus is likely correct: At some point, someone is going to have to stop being reliably outwardly caring about human life and egalitarianism, peace, dignity, taking the high road, science, intellectual honesty, clarity, rigor, consistency, depth, empathy, etc., if that very reliability is not only absent in our opponent, but actively used against us.
They can’t make Destiny not care or be human. Those who know him know where he stands on such things as obvious as violence, even if his rhetoric is misconstrued or sometimes mis-stated.
But they can and apparently have made him reflexively and instinctively averse to saying that he cares on command, like some good little puppet. Especially when they (criminally) won’t demand that same standard from the people who actually fucking matter way more, like the President, for starters.
We see you Steve. Stay strong. Stay safe. Sorry about what happened to Charlie. 😞
We know you think it’s sick. We all do. You literally said “I don’t want ANYONE to get killed thru political violence, that’s CRAZY! I just don’t know why the president of the United States can’t say that.”
Until he will, you won’t. Not because you don’t believe it, but because right now it’s the only way you know of to bravely point out just how bizarre it is that the right is stirring up their base with violent, foreboding rhetoric about how this means war, as if the left are coming for the right and everything they stand for, guns-a-blazin.’
How so very sick. Destiny sees this and responded with inhuman levels of courage, risking looking like a sociopath to 90% of the people watching.
Correct. Genius. Inspired. Damn near messianic. Advanced move, Destiny. Just wow. Thank you.
Watch the segment below on YouTube. Buckle up. It’s a hum-dinger.
